Courteney Cox is the former “Friends,” star who is currently starring on ABC’s hit TV series “Cougar Town.” On the show, Cox plays a recently divorced single mother. Reports hint that she will likely be playing a similar role in real-life very soon.
The actress and her husband, actor David Arquette, separated in 2010 after 11 years of marriage. They issued a statement about the decision, saying, “The reason…is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage.” They had previously worked to repair the relationship but Cox recently received divorce papers from her estranged husband.
The two have a daughter who was born in 2004. According to a report, Arquette has petitioned the court for joint custody, which Cox said should not be a problem. Not only have the couple decided to co-parent their child, it appears they intend to remain friends. During a recent interview Arquette said, “Whoever I’m with has got to accept this relationship: that I love her and she’s my best friend.”
As noble as it is to remain close friends, it could be a tough spot for a potential love interest. It seems it would be hard to compete with a man’s ex-wife who happens to be the mother of his child, and his best friend. But maybe Cox’s “friends” role makes it hard to shake the best friend image. But what does she care? She’s moved on to a new role. She plays a cougar on “Cougar Town.”
