Couples filing for divorce in Texas should be aware that their proceedings would be public record. High-profile couples may face an ever-bigger challenge as they can be mentioned by name in news sources, as Pamela Anderson and her husband, Rick Salomon, recently discovered.
The couple, both in their late 40s, who had been married this time for just six months, filed for divorce. It was the second time the pair had been in a marital relationship. Their first marriage occurred in 2007 but lasted just a few months and they divorced. Anderson and Salomon began a second relationship in 2014 and married again only to have the union end in divorce. She will receive $1 million in the settlement. Anderson is an actor and starred in a popular television program and Salomon is a professional poker player. Among the couple’s family members are Anderson’s two sons, both teens, from her former husband, Tommy Lee. Lee and Anderson were married in the late 1990’s for three years.
Though their divorce is now final and was settled on a friendly basis, they regret the public nature of the proceedings and were apologetic to their family members and friends for some of the things that were said. The divorce between Anderson and Salomon included a restraining order on Salomon who Anderson accused of being abusive and thought he might harm her. Salomon publicly said uncomplimentary things about Anderson.
When a divorcing couple and is well known to the public or has considerable assets, property division can be challenging. Hiring an attorney may take some of the stress out of the situation.
